JusticeCon Social Justice Conference: 360-Degree Support on a Tight Timeline

The COVID-19 pandemic created challenges for many organizations whose event planning needs would need to be executed in a virtual environment. With time running out before their first virtual conference, JusticeCon: A Path Towards Freedom, The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York was in need of full-scale support. Coco B. Productions was hired as the project management lead and quickly implemented a strategy and tool to prioritize, assign, and manage key roles and responsibilities within the short project timeline. In less than two weeks, the Coco B. team coordinated and led daily check-in calls with the full conference planning team to ensure coordination and identify urgent needs or issues; spearheaded content and social media strategy and development before, during, and after the conference; fundraised and secured corporate sponsorships from nationally recognizable; and assisted with strategic advertising outreach that resulted in MSNBC airing the conference. Our high-quality of work, attention to detail, and tireless commitment to ensuring a flawless event paid off: over 10,000 participated in the conference and attendee feedback was excellent.

U.S. Capitol Historical Society: Transforming an In-Person Event into an Engaging Virtual Gathering

In 2020, U.S. Capitol Historical Society (USCHS) hired Coco B. Productions to manage its Freedom Award ceremony, which needed to occur virtually for the first time ever. As the project manager, the Coco B. team developed a project timeline, coordinated regular team meetings to ensure progress and accountability, and established a tracking system for reporting key metrics. We also oversaw virtual event production, which involved managing the virtual platform configuration, creating a detailed run-of-show, securing and handling speakers, designing collateral, and crafting copy for communications including event invitations and announcements as well as moderator remarks and panel discussion questions. In support of fundraising associated with the event, Coco B. also leveraged our expansive network of national corporations and individuals to support fundraising goals.

Congressional Black Caucus Institute: A Virtual Celebration of UN75

The Congressional Black Caucus Institute’s (CBCI) celebration of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, UN75: The African American Experience Then and Now, celebrated the history of the U.N. and highlighted the contributions of African Americans to creating and advancing its mission. Coco B. Productions managed the event logistics, developed the run of show and talking points for the moderator, and crafted discussion questions for a panel that included NAACP President Derrick Jones, National Council of Negro Women Executive Director Janice L. Mathis, former U.S. Ambassador to the UN Andrew J. Young, as well as the first Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Program, actor Danny Glover.

American Health Care Association: Virtual Planning Retreat for Government Relations Team

In 2020, Coco B. helped the American Health Care Association (AHCA) ensure that the planning retreat for its Government Relations Team would be as engaging in a virtual environment as it would be in-person. Our team configured and managed the virtual platform; developed key programming components including team-building activities; designed event collateral in alignment with AHCA’s brand; managed communications with participants and guest speakers; coordinated the home delivery of meeting materials and meals to participants in multiple cities; and produced and hosted the live event. As a result, AHCA hosted a retreat that effectively engaged staff, fostering creative participation and collaboration that informed the team’s goals, values, and programming and activities.

Black Women’s Health Imperative: Responding to the COVID-19 Crisis

With the health and economic impacts of COVID-19 disproportionately affecting Black communities, Black Women’s Health Imperative and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. launched the Our Health, Our Community initiative to mobilize, support, and advocate for Black women and their families and create post-pandemic solutions that contribute to healthy, resilient Black communities. The Coco B. Productions team played an integral role in outlining the initiative’s overarching strategy and coordinating the production of one of its key deliverables: a webinar series. For the webinar series, our team created the theme, secured speakers, coordinated the run-of-show, drafted moderator questions, and supported development and dissemination of promotional materials. We also secured high-profile speakers from organizations including the U.S. Congress, Google Health, KimberlyClark Corporation, United Way, Urban League, Biotechnology Innovation Organization, Retrophin, National Bankers Association, and several universities and local health departments.

Elect Democratic Women: Moving the Needle on Democratic Women’s Representation in Congress

Elect Democratic Women, the organization dedicated to electing more Democratic women to Congress, hosted an event in 2020 to celebrate women leaders in the Democratic Party. As the project lead, Coco B. Productions created a project timeline and coordinated regular team meetings, configured and managed the virtual platform, designed the visual elements of the presentation, facilitated a dry-run and pre-event A/V check, and produced and managed the live event. We also provided the client with a high-quality event recording and post-event report on attendance and participation engagement.
